Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22 June 2026

Storyleaf turns the moments you love into a bespoke comic. Your privacy and your photos matter to us more than anything, because the whole product depends on your trust. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions: [email protected].

What we collect

  • Order & contact details: your name, email, and the order information needed to make and deliver your comic.
  • Your story: the details you share when you tell us your story, such as the occasion, moments, inside jokes, and notes.
  • Your photos: the reference photos you share via your album link, used to capture likenesses and scenes.
  • Shipping address: for printed orders, the address you give us so we can post the comic.
  • Photo metadata: the date and place read from your photos to build your timeline. This is read in your browser; we do not upload your photo files from the intake page.
  • Usage data: basic, privacy-respecting analytics about how the site is used (see "Analytics & cookies").

How we use your photos (the important part)

  • We use your photos only to create your comic, nothing else.
  • Creating the artwork involves AI image generation using Google's paid Gemini API. Reference photos and prompts are processed to produce your art. Under Google's paid-API terms, your data is not used to train their models and is not subject to human review for product improvement; it is processed under the Google Cloud Data Processing Addendum.
  • We do not sell or share your photos, and we never use your photos or finished comic in marketing without your explicit, separate opt-in.
  • We delete your photos within 30 days of delivery.

Consent & the people in your comic

By submitting photos, you confirm you have the right to use them and the consent of any identifiable people in them to be depicted in a comic. If anyone wants their likeness removed, contact us and we will comply.

Service providers we use

  • Payments: Cashfree Payments processes your payment; we never see or store your full card details.
  • AI art generation: Google (Gemini API), as described above.
  • Hosting & analytics: our static-site host, and PostHog for privacy-respecting analytics.

Analytics & cookies

We use PostHog to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used so we can improve it. It is configured in a privacy-respecting way: no autocapture of form fields and no tracking cookies. We do not use advertising trackers.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g. GDPR in the EU/UK, CCPA in California), you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, and you can object to certain processing. To exercise any right, email [email protected].

Data retention & security

We keep order records as required for accounting and legal purposes, and delete your photos within 30 days of delivery. We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data.

Children

Our service is not directed to children under 16. Comics may depict children only when submitted by a parent or guardian who consents.
